The main difference between these games and other Guts poker variants is that Monte Carlo and Survivor winning hands include straights and flushes.
Monte Carlo and Survivor Guts Poker:
Both Monte Carlo and Survivor are played in rounds. The games are very fast and one round may include numerous games. Players can neither join nor leave the game until the round is over, thus players who want to sit at a Guts poker table may have to wait for a while. For the same reason, a player who wants to join the game must bring at least 100 times the table stake to hold on until the end of the round. Table stakes are usually low, so the required amount may be as much as 10 dollars.
How is it Played?
Games of Monte Carlo and Survivor Guts poker proceed according to the following sequence:
- Each player either pays ante equal to the table stake or sits out.
- Each player receives 3 cards face down
- All players either play their hands or fold simultaneously, so the decisions are made regardless of other players actions. The player with the best hand wins.
- In Monte Carlo Guts all players except the winner replace the pot for the next game. In Survivor Guts, the player with the lowest hand replaces the pot alone.
